Why can'tI quickly switch an Explorer window from the one-pane (useless) to the two-pane view? (Finally -- why is Explorer so denigrated that it's buried under "Accessories" in Win2K? Is this just part of the general "dumbing down" of the UI, going along with "My Computer" and "My Network Places" (double gag)?

I've used Explorer, Servant Salamander, 2xExplorer, Mijenix Powerdesk, Drag and File, Turbo Browser. None of them seems to be what I'm looking for. DUAL PANE VIEW. I like to be able to see the contents of two folders at once, and, for example, to see files disappear from one pane and reappear in another.

The shortcut key to enter Explorer's two-paned interface is Win-E. But that is NOT the shortcut to -SWITCH- a vanilla window into two pane mode. Too bad you can't set that as a default view. Every time I click on Explorer in my Quicklinks I get a twopaned interface. That's "default" enough for me.

No, you use Explorer's two-paned interface for that. Again, why would I want to force myself to be on my desktop just to start managing files? Too bad you again prove you don't have a clue how Windows works; I can do exactly that. But you wont get the two pane "Folders" view, dc. I am trying it right now.

have tried "telling" explorer to use this setting for all folders, but each time I reopen explorer, I get only one pane with folders. I then have to click the folder button to get to my preferred two pane view. Now, this is not a critical problem, nor does it take me more than a second.
