To switch to a single pane view when you click on a link to Explorer, you need to get it to default to My Computer view. However, even this won't alter the Windows+E response, which will always launch the two-pane view. I use the background applet WinKey -- probably my single favorite piece of freeware of all time!

Thanks so much, Robert In Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options, File Type tab, Scroll down to Folder (NOT File Folder), Click 'Advanced', Highlight 'Explore'. Click 'Set as default' OK out. This should open any folder to the two-pane view. Hope this is what you want. George Gee.
